Operation Ground Hero

September 11, 2001 is a day that Americans will remember with shock and sorrow. In an effort to heal the wounds and help those that were most effected by this unimaginable disaster, Be the Star You Are!™ charity mobilized OPERATION GROUND HERO BOOK DRIVE.  Click here to see volunteers Heather Brittany, Cynthia Brian, Sherab Wagden, Susan Sykes, and Pat Hallberg.

We have finished packing the last of the uplifting, inspirational, and entertaining books, audio tapes, CD's, and videos that we collected to send to the families of the over 300 firefighters and rescue workers who were killed while trying to save others.  

Donations are on their way to New York City Fire Department Headquarters, in care of Ted Frett, Deputy Director of the Family Crisis and Counseling Service Department, for distribution to all families affected by the tragedy. They are so grateful to us for wanting to provide our resources.  They said that uplifting books, tapes, videos and CD's are what everyone really needs and wants right now, so we are honored to offer this type of support. 

Although we in California ended our book drive on November 3rd (so that we could get everything shipped before Thanksgiving), our liaison in Pennsylvania, Dale Porter, will be continuing hers until the end of the year.  New or used resources in good condition may be dropped off to Dale at:
