September
11th Commemorative Dance and Book Collection Event
We
received a wonderful phone call from Sister Dorothy at Carondolette High School
in Concord. She is in charge of the Community Service Dept. for the all-girls school. These girls came to Be
the Star You Are!™
in 2001 and helped us pack up the huge donation we shipped to NYC firefighters
and policemen's children...OPERATION GROUND HERO.
A year later, they came up with an idea to benefit our book collection. They wanted
to have a dance to remember 911 and picked Friday, the 13th of September 2002.
We brought them the bins that they decorated and placed at the dance where
they expected 800/1,000 kids, and each was to bring a new book for kids ages 3 to 17 years. They
filled the bins, emptied them into boxes and brought them
to our office where we prepared them for donation to youth at risk.
The theme of their dance was EVERYONE
IS A STAR and, of
course, that is what Be
the Star You Are!™
believes!

BOOK
SALE AND
CELEBRITY AUTHOR EVENT
|
|
Did you know that between 1914 and
1944, more Bartlett Pears were grown and sold from the Moraga Ranch than from
any other operation in California? Well, neither did we, even though our
charity offices are close to the numerous pear orchards that are over 100 years
old. The town of Moraga celebrated its pear legacy with the Moraga
Days Pear Festival and we were there! The popular Sí Sí Caffé, an
espresso and smoothie meeting place extraordinaire hosted our local Be
the Star You Are!™ charity book sale on Sunday, October 7th from
11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A variety of wonderful books for the entire family
were on sale for reduced prices. All the proceeds benefit youth-at-risk and Be
the Star You Are!™ non-profit. Circus performances were held in the former pear
orchard next door, and there was food and fun for the entire family. There
was a wonderful opportunity to meet celebrity authors Marilyn Azevedo (Defending
Andy) and Cynthia Brian (Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul and Be
the Star You Are!™ 99 Gifts to Living, Loving, Laughing, and Learning to Make a
Difference), and take home autographed copies of best-selling
favorites. Autographed books are a treasure for a lifetime.
BE
THE STAR YOU ARE!™
AN ACTION WORKSHOP
©2001 Cynthia Brian,
Starstyle Productions, LLC Be
the Star of Your Own Life!
Cynthia Brain teaches people how to design and be the star of their own lives.
"You can't leave your life to chance," says the woman who has
dedicated twenty-five years of her own life to showing ordinary people to, Be
the Star You Are!™ Learn to live a life of meaning by following her 3 simple
rules:
1. You must smile.
2. You must have fun.
3. You must be willing to be wild and crazy.
Her book, "Be the Star You Are!™ 99 GIFTS to living, loving, laughing and
learning to make a difference," (Celestial Arts, May 2001) was developed
from two and a half decades of coaching actors. Each chapter provides different
gifts that everyone possesses along with exercises on how to discover them in
your own life.
This is a hands on workshop for ages teens to adults. We'll do exercises based
on the three rules and find the answer to the question "What would
you do with your life if money wasn't an object and you knew you couldn't fail?
What would your life look like?"
Dress comfortably, we'll be active and have fun. Be prepared to get your
circulation and creativity moving. Walk out of the class with a concrete plan on
how to achieve more success, live more fully, laugh heartily, love intensely and
make a difference in your world. You will be the star you were born to be.
Cynthia Brian, President of Star style™ Productions, LLC and host of radio and
TV shows, is the author of Be the Star You Are!™ (Ten Speed Press) and
co-author of the NY Times best seller, Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul (HCI).
She is Founder of the charity, Be the Star You Are!™, 501 (c)(3), a positive
programming media library providing hope and inspiration to those in need.
Her syndicated column, "Business Bytes" is read in newspapers around
the world. As a personal growth success expert, she has been coaching teens and

Our annual audition event in

Agents were in attendance to review all the animal participants.
- Each animal received a special goody bag
filled with yummy treats and coupons.
- A fabulous Petting Zoo including
chickens, ducks, geese, goats, and a lamb was provided by Animal Cuts TV,
and Radio Host, Heather Brittany kept the children happy and entertained.
- Pygmy goats and their babies were also
available for petting, provided by the Martinez 4-H Club and their leader,
Vicki Schlinkert.
- Animal Rescue Center (ARC) provided
animal adoptions.
- Joe and Stephanie Carvalho, owners of the
global bird performance show "Birds of a Feather" shared their owl
and talking parrot.

- Participants indulged in delicious food
and drinks, had sketches of their favorite critter drawn by renowned artist
Beth Bachelor, bought real stars in the heavens in the name of their pets
and loved ones, made mugs with the photo of their pet, and created pet
trading cards and hats.
- Raffles for all kinds of great gifts were
held throughout the day with almost everyone being a winner!
- Merlot, the pot-bellied pig, star of the
Letterman show, was a definite Animal Star attraction.
- Cynthia Brian broadcast the radio program
Starstyle™ Be The Star You Are!™ live from 4-5pm and interviewed many of
the various animals and their owners. Featured were talking birds and
singing dogs and lots of kids! (and we don't mean the goat kind!)
It was a fantastic day of fun and frolic for
animal lovers everywhere. We hope you'll join us next year! If you
