Classic Literature with Keerthi

Keerthi, our Nerd Extraordinaire, hosts and entertains this entire program focused on classic literature, favorite books, and debate. British Keerthi starts off the show with her regular humor and wacky ideas. She discusses George Orwell’s, Animal Farm, the story of the Russian Revolution, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey., and her favorite book of all-time, Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. In segment two, Keerthi analyzes, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, The Lion, the witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, and again her all-time favorite, Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. For the final segment, Keerthi launches into the benefits of creative writing in debate. Debates are often designed to test skills of critical thinking, analysis, and persuasive communication. It would be expected from debaters to be precise, accurate and factual in their arguments, instead of being only creative. That is why, striking a balance between being creative and being precise is important for any debater. Tune in for more Nerd Extraordinaire logic.

"Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become." - C.S. Lewis
