Pass the Popcorn, Please!

by Cynthia Brian The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live coast to coast on TNT and TBS on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. I'm busy watching all the movies so that I can vote accurately. It's an honor that I take very seriously as a long time member of SAG/AFTRA. Thus far I've watched these films and all of them gave me pause: 99 Homes Beasts Of No Nation The Big Short The Revenant Spotlight Brooklyn The Danish Girl Woman in Gold Of the films I've seen, the only one that I thought I'd love and really didn't was The Revenant. Leonardo diCaprio is a fantastic actor and I'd love to see him win a Best Actor trophy as he is most deserving but this movie only showcased his grunting, grueling pain. The scenery was beautiful, the true story a daring feat, but....despite all the media hoopla, I didn't like the film at all. These are on my weekend agenda. Even though I acted in Steve Jobs, I haven't seen it yet. Black Mass Bridge Of Spies Room Steve Jobs Straight Outta Compton Trumbo There are several TV programs nominated, many I’ve seen but these are on my “must see before the voting” list. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt A Very Murray Christmas Marvel’s Daredevil Grace of Monaco The Lizzie Borden Chronicles Mr. Robot The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe Tut It's interesting to note that in the nominations this year, Netflix, HBO, Showtime, and AMC have more potential winners than other studios or networks. WOW! This is a lot of media to digest while working full time. I may not be able to sleep until after my ballot has been cast. What films and shows do you think deserve to be winners? I am interested to know what you liked and didn't like. More information about the SAG Awards. Pass the Popcorn, please!
