Life after Trauma

Diya Hituvali hosts a program that focuses on hardships that people experience throughout life. In her first segment, Diya dives into domestic violence…what it is and how to get help. She then interviews Dr. Alexandra Chauran to find out ways to be positive and move forward after experiencing devastation. Hardship dictated the topic for Chauran’s latest book, Getting Through It: Reclaim & Rebuild Your Life Through Adversity, Change or Trauma., as in 2015 she was diagnosed with aggressive, Stage IIIC triple positive breast cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, her husband left near the end of her treatment, throwing her life into the turmoil of divorce. Having found her pain and her medicine, Chauran seeks to share fresh education from the school of hard knocks. In the final segment, Diya looks at the ways our lives have been impacted by the pandemic.

Though no individual’s situation is the same, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a shared human experience of remarkable uncertainty, isolation, and hardship. Despite all the tragedies we have endured, we can get through it. Trauma will be a part of life but it doesn’t have to be a life sentence.

Bio: Dr. Alexandra Chauran is a multi-published author who has written 26 books. She holds a doctoral degree from Valdosta State University and a Master in Teaching from Seattle University. She loves carefully building learning plans for people to understand esoteric subjects. From fortune telling to surviving adversity and confronting death, Charuran’s books stretch across human experience to touch different audiences.

In her spiritual life, Chauran leads a coven and trains seekers to the craft of Wicca. Since 1999, she has worked as a fortune teller, serving thousands around the globe at parties and celebrations as well as one on one and with apprentices. Having studied Clinical Pastoral Education at the University of Washington, Chauran has worked as an interfaith chaplain at Harborview Hospital and the University of Washington Medical Center.

Hardship dictated the topic for Chauran’s latest book, as in 2015 she was diagnosed with aggressive, Stage IIIC triple positive breast cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, her husband left near the end of her treatment, throwing her life into the turmoil of divorce. Having found her pain and her medicine, Chauran seeks to share fresh education from the school of hard knocks in the book, Getting Through It: Reclaim & Rebuild Your Life Through Adversity, Change or Trauma. The most important book she’s ever written, Chauran hopes this work will nurture the resilience in millions of trauma sufferers worldwide.
