The Gift of Rejection-Confessions of a Comma Queen

Confessions of a Comma Queen

Every week, Express Yourself!™ will bring you a stimulating program based on a chapter from our award winning book Be the Star You Are!® for Teens. (http://www.starstyleradio.com/#! The Gift of Rejection “You’re too tall, you’re too short, you’re too pretty, you’re too ugly, you’re too young, you’re too old, your hair is too blonde, your hair isn’t blonde enough, your eyes are too blue, your eyes need to be brown, you have too much experience, you’re not experienced enough.” No matter who you are, you will face rejection in life so it’s time to embrace it and move forward. Asya Gonzalex hosts the program beginning with chapter, The Gift of Rejection” by Cynthia Brian from the book Be the Star You Are!® for Teens followed by a lively conversation with The New Yorker copy editor, Mary Norris. Norris expertly guides readers through the most common and confusing grammatical issues in her book, Between You and Me, Confessions of a Comma Queen. She reveals her rejections throughout her career and why it’s important to keep on keeping on. An informative and fun interaction with two women who love words and repel rejection. Bio Mary Norris Mary Norris began her professional career as a foot checker—dutifully checking patrons’ toes for athlete’s foot as they entered a Cleveland city pool—before working at a costume company and driving a milk truck. Humble beginnings for a woman who would come to spend more than three decades as a copy editor (or “prose goddess”) at The New Yorker, where she’s worked with such celebrated writers as Philip Roth, Pauline Kael, and George Saunders. Norris’s love of language, and her wish to help “all of you who want to feel better about your grammar,” led her to write BETWEEN YOU & ME: Confessions of a Comma Queen. http://www.commaqueen.net/ Listen at Voice America Kids: http://www.voiceamerica.com/episode/91903/the-gift-of-rejection Listen, View Photos, Descriptions, & More at Express Yourself!™ Teen Radio: http://www.expressyourselfteenradio.com Make a DONATION through PAYPAL GIVING FUND and PAYPAL with 100% going to BTSYA with NO FEES: ! https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/search-cause?charityId=1504&s=3 Read our BTSYA April Newsletter: http://hosted.verticalresponse.com/672296/698db7b846/288055965/ac7221bc2f/ Have you ever bought a TV cathode screen or computer screen?
